Born from Mauritian parents, Jacques grew up on the Indian Ocean Island. Jacques immigrated to Australia in the late 80s. There, he met his long-term partner, now husband. They have long happily settled in Melbourne.
After a distinguished career in the Australian public service, Jacques launched his writing career in 2015 with the publication of an autobiographical novel: ‘A Journey of Pride’. In it, he retraced an eventful period of his life.
The acclaimed success of his debut novel challenged him to try out a new literary genre. The result is this well-written and absorbing murder mystery, which Jacques delivers with some brio.
Jacques and his spouse have travelled to a tropical island, for a special celebration, where they encounter a fatal poisoning!
Enigmatic Inspector Labelle seeks Jacques’ assistance to solve the murder, and as Jacques burrows deeply into the case, he discovers a web of deceit, denunciations and double lives.
This crime story will enthrall you to the final word.
When his older brother asks him if he is gay, Jacques is first stunned by the question. Soon after he’s come out, Jacques leaves behind the idyllic island of Mauritius, and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. This is a poignant story of resilience and hope. Despite the challenges, Jacques finds fulfilment, happiness and success, living the life he wanted.
