Moira McAlister has spent most of her life in the classroom as a teacher, teacher-librarian and student. It was while studying for her Masters in Writing and Literature, that Moira first found snippets of the story of her great, great grandmother, Inez Seville Fitzgerald. Realising there were huge gaps in the information available, Moira put this story aside to concentrate on the facts concerning Inez’s husband, for the narrative non-fiction work, Dr Barry Cotter, the First Doctor in Melbourne ( which she published in 2015. Since then, Moira has used the painstaking and fascinating research for that story as the basis for her fictional reinvention of Inez in her novel, Izzy.

Moira also writes short stories and stories for children, some of which can be found on her website ( Moira is part of a large and busy family and she and her husband enjoy the best of all worlds, alternating between Canberra and Batemans Bay on the beautiful south coast of NSW.
